I understand the lifestyle of most is fast-paced, trying to get a maximum amount of activity done in a timely fashion. But when did we start paying for relaxation?? Perhaps I’m old-fashioned, and maybe even a little naive, but what ever happened to allowing ourselves some time to just ‘be’, to get out of our heads, to breath and smell, and to listen to our hearts beat, the birds sing and the grass whisper in the wind.
I am teased a lot by my family that feel I am living a hermit life. They don’t understand the desire to be alone. As I walk outside and hear the trees rustle their summer leaves, gently bending in the breeze, I realize I am relaxing. I receive from the earth what others are paying for! Maybe I am a bit too solitude, but I am free and alive. I walk through tall grass just to hear it bend to me, whoosh of stems moving together to allow me to pass. Relaxation is not monetary! It’s inside you, within your mind, beneath your skin….you simply need to take a moment to listen, to hear it call you. Sign up for that yoga class, or make the appointment for that wrap or massage, but know there is a whole world out there willing to give you what you seek. I challenge you to throw away the time slot, and give in to nature. Take that 15 minutes and walk through the park, or down the road. Take an adventure! Don’t climb rocks at the gym!! Go outside and find a hiking trail! Look around you and see what a beautiful world we live in, surrounded by natures gifts. Let the ground soothe your tired feet, and winds calm your mind. Sit and enjoy the relaxation that is ours, for free.
